PROMOTING AN INTEGRATED SUSTAINABLE DESIGN PROCESS //

Introduction

Brief // The new NETWORKS SERVICES CENTRE will focus the Dublin operations of Bord Gáis Networks in one single location on a circa 5 acre site at St. Margaret’s Road, Dubber Cross, Finglas, Dublin 11, Ireland. 


The new building will accommodate 315 staff on 5200msq and incorporate a number of primary functions including:

> 24/7 National Distribution Gas Control for Ireland

> 24/7 emergency response for Dublin and surrounding counties

> The National Training Centre

> The National Distribution Safety and Quality Centre

> The National Distribution Operations and Construction Departments


Ethos // The design of the new Networks Services Centre will reflect Bord Gáis Networks' commitment to:

> Environmental protection, energy conservation and sustainable development.

> Staff efficiency and to promote the inter-departmental multi-disciplinary   
        approach necessary in the provision of efficient and effective services. 


Progress // The design was chosen following a two stage international architectural competition administered by the RIAI on behalf of Bord Gáis Networks in the summer of 2008. 


      >      Full Planning Permission was granted in June 2009 and Construction commenced in June 2010.

      >      Completion is scheduled for October 2011.
